shortcut to a website

Is it possible to display a shortcut to a website on my ipad air desktop like I can on my PC?

Hi, welcome to iPF!

If you want to add a website icon to your homescreen, open the site you intend to add in Safari. Tap the Share button at the top right (see arrow) and then select "Add to Home Screen":

You'll be able to edit the name that should be displayed, then tap "Add":
