Shrinking page on ipad one

Hi I hope someone will be able to resolve or advise as to why the page shrinks and shrinks until the page cannot be read when viewing ebay via safari on the ipad, I have the original ipad 1. I have emailed ebay tech support several times but all they say is they will pass on my query to the relevant department, needless to say they never get back and the problem still persists. I have the ebay app which is ok but there are functions I still need to do via the ebay site, I have tried several browsers designed for ipad, same thing the page shrinks. The only browser that seems to work is opera but when trying to go onto ebay with this browser it keeps taking me to ebaymobile which is next to useless. The problem occurs when going to ebay via the browser log in username and id the page then keeps shrinking. Any ideas guys?

This is apparently an issue with the eBay website. It has been reported several times.

Sorry. I have no answers, other than what another user surmised, and that is that eBay are trying to get you to use their app. No idea if this is true or not.
