Shutters on the Beach Premier suite guests given their own personal iPads

The Shutters on the Beach hotel in Santa Monica, California, is laying claim to being the first hotel on the West Coast to give guests an iPad for the duration of their stay. They’re not giving it to just anyone though, only guests staying in the hotel’s Premier Suites will be eligible for the iPad loaner.

The iPads have been customised with special apps and features, including a personalised Digital Concierge that can be used to order room service, reserve a cabana or schedule a massage; a selection of movies and music; access to your Kindle account if you have one; and CNN and SportsCenter plus lots of other popular apps to keep you in touch with the real world.

“At Shutters we are constantly striving to provide our guests with that special touch or additional level of service,†said Gregory Day, General Manager of the hotel. “We are thrilled to be the first hotel on the West Coast to offer this hot technology for our guests’ enjoyment. It’s a great opportunity to test drive new technology while on vacation. If successful, we hope to expand this program to other room categories.â€
