SIM in France

Hi All

I am about to go to France for a couple of weeks and I want to use my ipad (3G) while away to purchase ski passes and get some work done.

I also have a iphone 4s which I use as a mobile hotspot when I'm travelling around at home.

I imagine I will buy a 'pay as you go' French SIM (which I would like to buy online before leaving).

I could continue to use the iphone as a hotspot when in France (allowing me to also use my laptop online) so I could buy a SIM for the phone rather than the ipad and redirect the calls that would normally be coming through to my iphone to the French number.

Is this cheaper? Has anyone done this? Are the data limits too restrictive? What would you do?

Any thoughts appreciated.

I often go to Spain and although I do have a Spanish sim for my phone, buying a PAYG sim is becoming more and more difficult.
Since getting an iPAD I have found the best solution (maybe not the cheapest, but certainly not the dearest option and certainly the most convenient ) is a MAXROAM sim. Use it both in your phone and iPAD if you prefer - and they have reduced their tariff recently.

Hi,

No problems at all. I tried it in the UK before I left to see if all the settings were OK and no problems. Since then have been to Spain 4 times and it's been a godsend ..... No problems at all and actually cheaper than our local Internet cafe if you add parking, the obligatory coffee and 1 euro for 30 minutes. (also last Christmas they did a ,"special" and sold their rates for half price so stocked up.)

Hope this helped
