I just checked on a google search and there is an article from AOL posted on Feb. 24. So it should work with the iOS you recently installed.
Do your settings include imap.aol.com for the incoming mail server and smtp.aol.com for the primary mail server?
Are you getting an error?
Do you have a lot of apps running in the background? Sometimes this will mess up the incoming mail. Just in case you didn't know, double press the round home button. The screen will appear to slide upward revealing apps that are open. You can close these apps by touching and holding on one of them until they start to wiggle. A reed circle will appear with a white minus sign on the top left corner. Touching this red circle will close the app. It won't delete the app from your iPad. I clear my running apps out several times a day.
Since it is an imap account, I think the email stays on the AOL server and a copy is placed on your iPad. Are you comfortable with deleting the AOL account and resetting it up?
