MacRumors reports that Snapchat has today unveiled its new water-resistant line of Spectacles, which it claims are smaller, and therefore more comfortable to wear, than its original Spectacles range. Clearly Snapchat is hoping that the new glasses will be a smash hit for summer thanks to their water-resistance, noting that they “can even take a photo or video in shallow water,” and thus will be perfect for pool parties or beach days.
“We want Spectacles to be the simplest and easiest way to make memories from your point of view, and we appreciate all of your thoughtful feedback - many of these improvements were inspired by you!”
The updated Spectacles now have improved audio, as well as the new ability to snap pictures as well as video footage by tapping the side button. Snapchat claims that transferring your HD images and videos to the app is now “up to four times faster” than before, although the Spectacles can actually hold up to 150 videos or 3,000 photos before you need to transfer any over to the app.
Snapchat’s Spectacles can be ordered today in the US, UK, Canada, and France for $149.99, and are available in a variety of colours, including Sapphire, Onyx, and Ruby.
Spectacles are also now available to order in prescription and polarized lens versions in the US via Lensabl.
