Software update for appletv.

I'm trying to update my appletv software but apparently it's
going to take 10 hrs? Why so long? I need to do this so I can 'see' the mirror function under AirPlay on iPad 2 ios5. I think?

Mine told me 10 hours as well but after about 40 minutes I released it had hung.
I killed the update, unpowered the AppleTV, plugged it back it and started the update again and it only took maybe 15-20 minutes.

I haven't tried to update my Apple TV2 just yet, but K1W1 is right...the time listed can be misleading. Have a look here to see if any of these tips might help...

All good. Went to bed and next day tried again and it took 15 min ! Fickle thing it is.... Everything is working well. Loving the mirroring function!
