Streaming video outside UK

so i thought i was being so clever buying an Ipad2 outside the UK, installing a UK based VPN and then expecting to link up to Sky Go, BBC iPlayer etc. I managed to 'convince' the kit that it was linked to the Apple UK stores and even managed to download the Sky Go app - but even with that and the VPN access denied. No go with football on BBC - needs Adobe flash etc. Grateful for any ideas on how to solve otherwise back it goes. ...

I'm not exactly sure of the problem here. Is the problem VPN access or Flash? The BBC iPlayer app works just fine with a VPN - you'll see reports on the Forum from many Members who have been able to get it to work fine and it even works on 3G now.
