Sync to computer not the cloud

After signing up for The cloud I can no longer get my iPad to connect to my laptop.
Since somehow my iPad got loaded with my iPod stuff I need to re sync the pad to the laptop to get my data back. Is this possible.

OK I got it done, from an old backup. Took two hours but was worth the effort.
