Telltale Games and NBCUniversal announced today that they are currently working on developing games based on the newest instalment of NBCUniversal’s Law & Order franchise, Law & Order: LA. Telltale’s first episodic game series based on Law & Order: LA will be released some time in 2011 on all major gaming platforms, including mobile and tablets. Although the iPad isn’t specifically mentioned, Telltale already has many excellent and very popular episodic gaming series out on iPad, including Puzzle Agent, Back to the Future, Sam & Max, Wallace & Gromit and Monkey Island, so I’m sure Law & Order: LA will be turning up on iOS devices too.
With the Law & Order: LA games, Telltale says that it will build from the experience and expertise cultivated through numerous seasons of police and crime procedural games over the years, with the Law & Order: LA games moving the crime-solving focus to interrogation and criminal investigations, with a heavy dose of courtroom drama in each case as well. Telltale will also continue to advance its unique approach to cinematic presentation and storytelling as well as dialog and character interactions. It all sounds very interesting, and possibly a little more serious than Telltale's usual more humorous fare.
“Law & Order: LA fits very well with the style of episodic entertainment experiences Telltale has been building since our very first days,†said Telltale co-founder and CEO Dan Connors. “The talents and skills that we’ve been building at Telltale are ideally suited for the structure and storytelling approach of televised procedurals like Law & Order.â€
