What's new

The "Anything Goes" thread

Notes to oneself,

1) get decent cabin luggage bag.
2) take car type drinking mugs that seal (for hot fluids).
3) carry spare strides/socks in hand luggage.
4) Mexico is a dangerous place - to travel home from :)

Oh, hell, I hate to spoil all your fun but I have real bad news. I came home to find my Springer Spaniel in deep distress. Heart attack, I think. Waiting for hubby to carry him to vets. Last time this time. He's the same age as my eldest daughter. Knew this was coming!

I celebrate Xmas end of November if it's any interest to you! Halloween is naturally celebrated because my birthday is on the 29th and hubby's is on Halloween.

So terribly sorry to hear about your puppy! Maybe it's just a seizure of some sort? Hope he's all better fast.

Yes, as Rich said, sorry to hear about you dog Hayley......not nice for anyone to go through.

He is 16 years old. We are just off now. Thanks guys.

Hi, guys! I'm back. He had a form of brain disease and there was nothing the vet could do for him. Thanks again for support. It was like losing a member of my family. I couldn't keep a stiff upper lip and started hubby off. The vet and nurse were really good and supplied tissues. My daughter will plant Heather on his grave in honour of her name. His birthday was next week. He would have been 17.

Thanks again.

Oh my gosh, Hayley, I'm SO sorry!! The cat I have now (11 1/2 years old) is my first pet and I am extremely attached to her. I don't know how I'll manage. :( Are you guys going to get another pet right away or no? I know lots of people cope this way- I feel like I'll have to because coming home to an empty house would break my heart.

I hope you're doing okay. I know you know your doggie is in a better place now, where he isn't suffering. I'm still really sad over a death I went through in January and it's about the only thing that makes me feel better, that he isn't suffering anymore.

*E-hug*

Gee that's so nice of you! Yes, he's sleeping permanently now, no more pain. Very hard to come home to that. I had to wait for hubby to carry him to vets. He was too heavy. A member of our family.

No, we have a pomeranian bossy boots and a domineering springer cross border collie so no, no more for a while. Unless I'm overruled again. We have two black cats, a cockatiel, a horse, a pony and chickens, ducks and two goldfish. Menagerie but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you for your lovely post. We are growing a Heather and a Rose on his grave as it's my daughters name. They were the same age.

Oh okay, I didn't know you had other pets. My cat is my only one. I can't even.. think about losing my cat, but I know I need to make it a reality. I can only hope that if I "find" my cat in that kind of distress, I'm not alone or I can have a friend or my parent or something come ASAP to carry her because I think I'll just freeze in place!

But time to switch subjects. :( I am extremely disgusted with my school right now. I'm nearing the end of my teaching program. To make a long story short, the Placement Office gave me a crappy placement (great teacher, great school, but it didn't meet my requirements) and have yet to find me a new one. I only went to the first placement two days before promptly meeting my program director and asking for a new placement. That was a week ago. Everyone else in my program (with the exception of one or two others) have been in placements for over a week now, and have been observing for over a week now, so they'll most likely be comfortable by the time we're supposed to be teaching on November 1st. I'm sitting here waiting to get placed- and then I'll have to hope my teacher responds quickly, we can meet quickly, and I can start observing quickly. I'm rushed and stressed out and angry that once again, no email is coming from the Placement Office with a new assignment.

I paid $2000 for 6 credits of "student teaching" and I'm totally getting screwed out of the experience.

Oh, how terribly sorry I am to hear about your loss. There's nothing like a wonderful pet. They give you unconditional love all of their lives and no matter how hard we try it seems like we can never repay our little companions for their trust and never-ending pleasure with just our presence. (If only humans were as wonderful!) Saying goodbye to a pet is the one thing that brings me to my knees, blubbering like a child. It sounds like he had a wonderful life through the end though, and as you mentioned, you always looked out for his quality of life. I'm sure he was very grateful to you and your family for loving him so much.

When we lost our two corgis within a few weeks of each other I came across this saying...

"Everybody is born so that they can learn how to live a good life - loving everybody and being nice.
Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

I sometimes honestly hope that I will go before our two golden doodles do!

I hope you find comfort for your loss and know that your puppy is happy and I believe that our pets be will waiting for us...but most of all know that it will get better with time.
