I've used the free version of Virgin Mobile when travelling on one of their trains in the UK. It was excellent.

Some libraries offer free wifi.

anybody here use wifi hotspots? like the ones you pay monthly for and carry the device with you

I do with Verizon. Pay 20.00 instead of 30.00 for a separate iPad plan.

I'm sitting here on my iPad and listening to the TV. Is it just me or is Whitney Houston getting a whole lot more coverage than Michael Jackson ever got after he passed. It's like every newscast starts with something about her death and what's going to happen next.
I'm not sure how it is elsewhere in the world but I'm just about over it.

my main plan and use if i was to get a mifi thingy was to be used on road trips. i was planning to drive to FL this summer with some buddies. and even tho most of us have internet on our phone, i would like to have a mifi in the car for the trip and the time we spend in FL but i really wanted something unlimited but i cant find anything. i have an ipad and at least 1 of us will be taking a laptop. so in the car we will have a laptop, ipad and most likely streaming netflix or pandora.

To all my friends, this is an urgent appeal. A friend of mine has started a diet plan using HCG. I've looked this up and Wikipedia says the FDA have banned this and says its not safe to use. I fear for my friend as she can't have researched this plan. Please allay my fears and tell me if anyone knows of this diet and if it's safe for her to use.

You don't have to look far to get the bad news about hCG. You can refer your friend to the webMD app for iPad.
hCG is covered quite thoroughly. Bottom line, creating a hormonal imbalance to trick your body's metabolism then restricting caloric intake to as little as 500 a day, is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Thanks AA. You are just confirming what I feared. She is extremely overweight and has lost 2 stone in two weeks! Frightening. Not sure if she will listen as this is the first I've heard that she wanted to lose weight. Not a subject you can approach with women as you can imagine.

A friend of mine tried it. The daily caloric intake was only 500 calories! She ended losing very little weight, got discouraged because of that and cost, so she stopped rather quickly. Luckily no harm done. I guess as a friend you can advise, but people are going to do what they will. Hopefully she'll come to her senses. If anything seems too good to be true.....

So agree! Women in general aren't very good at taking advice/criticism very well. I've left a message on her wall and hope she doesn't take offence. There's nothing like simple eating and exercise to really make a difference. It's the quick fixes which mess us up. We just pile on the pounds afterwards as we think once we have lost the weight, there is no need to watch it but that is when we are in the most vulnerable position of regaining what we have lost. I'm good at maintaining but not losing it. I've lost 4kg so far but purely from sensible eating and exercise. Zumba and walking the dog/horse.
