What's new

The "Anything Goes" thread

No! I had a black one. I felt that the videos would look better with the black surround but I did like the white with those cool apple covers especially the blue and green ones, even red. I took the plunge and got a white one. No difference at all. The white was a great choice. I'm still waiting for the cover. Can't wait. I will get a purple one as my iPhone had purple.

I never considered black as an option, since I always thought the white one distinguished Apple from the rest!! Love my white ipad!

My daughter has my black one and I didn't want her to get them confused!! Hee Hee. I'm loving mine too!

Great pictures....and Harrods as well!!

Thanks, Gabriel, Skimonkey and Hayley, yes i am well happy with my new ipad and i am typing this from it. I sold my old ipad 1 on ebay for £235, and posted it out yesterday and today got the new one today. I have to say i had problems with the screen protector, i always do with the phone but this particular one kept peeling off when i put it in the case, so it kept bubbling up, in the end i cut the corners of the screen saver for it to stay. After that with the ipad on the case cover, next thing was to set it up on itunes, and unlike the phone where i used the 3g backup on the 4s and everything transfered, today the old ipad 1 backup didnt work, so i had to set it up as a new ipad and manually transfer the apps and songs etc. its synching ok now. However one app called the "free Memory" crashes, but works fine on the phone, and did on the old ipad. So thats a mystery. The retina screen is really great, i have seen some pictures and they are clearer

Regarding Harrods, i am not rich nor posh, but i find shopping there easier and let me explain. I live in southgate north london and work in hammrsmith, and the tube that runs straigh through is the picadilly line. So when i get on the train in southgate, it takes me straight to work, no changes required. Harrods is on knightbridge, which is 5 stops from my work in Hammersmith, and the best thing is when you came out of the station you get straight into harrods without getting wet in rain. And with all the wet weather we be having, its more convieneient for me to jump on the tube from harrods and come to southgate and then walk home.

Next item i need to get is the apple macbook pro or air, that be the day when i dont have to use the current windows pos laptop, its a nightmare.

At Harrod's Knightsbridge we stopped in the Green Man Pub and had summer pudding. Wish I were there now!

Finally got the new iPad 3 today, haven't really tried it out yet but first impressions are great. I will write more later

Hi GK. Is it worth starting a new thread, iPad 3 users?

I looked at the Apple goodies in the Oxford Street store. I decided that the iPad 3 and Apple TV are the best route, economically and would suit my way of working. I will be upgrading my PC monitor from 17" to 21" minimum.

We went to Harrods on Thursday to pick up a veg dish we had ordered. We also bought some great wholemeal scones (90p each) in the Boulangerie. We do love the food hall. Mostly to shop with our eyes only :)

So,Boris Johnson was re-elected as mayor of London . ...... Just ....

Ken Livingstone has retired from politics, disgusted. I wonder for how long it will last? Retirement? Being disgusted? :)

I have to say I like both men but Boris is so bonkers that I love to hear whatever he says come out of his mouth.. Wacky sums it up.

Hi Richard, i suppose we could start a thread for ipad 3 users, we have for ipad 1 and 2. I feel the same way as you about the ipad3 and apple tv, i noticed that i hardly use the laptop when i have the ipad and apple tv, although it be nice to have the macbook pro just to be able to do without windows anymore. Definately cost effective. The food section, especially the boulangerie on the ground floor in harrodsnis great :), havent been there for a while though

Very unfortunatley this Green Man Pub is not there anymore :( i have been there several times and the fish and chips was great. That pub have been refurbished into a perfume, shaving cream and hair cut area. Its the one where you took the stairs to the basement and the toilets were on the right. Only thing still there are the toilets, everything else changed

Actually, thats a great idea to get a refurbished mac book pro/air from an apple shop, never thought of that. Not only have peace of mind that comes with apple guarantee but more importantly save a few ££ too.

Really! He makes me laugh. There was a speech he made that gave us hysterics, not sure if it was millennium or Olympics but it was very funny.

Don't forget to spy the perigee Moon at dusk tonight. This pic is of a similar moonrise a month ago, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
