Another favourite series was another Irwin Allen series called Land of The Giants.

Didn't know Bill Mumy was in Babylon 5. Live and learn.

Who would have thought that this...

It's great to wake up to good news. I enjoyed 2 items: -

Firstly, SAS Sergeant Danny Nightingale has been released on appeal. He is the soldier sent to a military detention centre for bringing a trophy gun to the UK from Iraq.

Just hooked up my new Airport Express this morning. My old Belkin router was almost 10 years old and long past it's best before date.

I bought a new Netgear router a couple of months ago. My old Netgear was still working fine, but Best Buy had them on sale, and the old one was pre-N so the new one is twice as fast over wifi. After I brought it home, I noticed that there's a Netgear app that turns any printer attached to my iMac into an air printer, even if it has no wifi at all. Pretty handy, though the iMac has to be awake to run the app. There's a similar app for Windows as well.

Here is the John Lewis advert. Check out this video on YouTube:

Is it a contender for The Snowman style Christmas stories?

I know we have quite a few member's from Australia so I thought this image from the NASA HD site for iOS would be of interest.

This was taken from space almost a week ago - showing the Cape York Peninsula Fires.

This is the description that accompanies the image on the NASA site.

"The wildfires that have been plaguing the Cape York Peninsula in Australia are not uncommon at this time of year. It is nearing the end of the dry season there, but that is precisely when conditions are most ripe for fire. As the dry season comes to a close the vegetation becomes little more than standing tinder – even a spark can ignite devastating fires. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this true-color image on November 24, 2012 as it passed over the region. Dozens of fires can be seen burning across the Cape York Peninsula, many accompanied by large plumes of smoke which is blown to the west. Strong winds help fuel wildfires, and can rapidly drive flames into areas full of fresh fuel.

Cape York Peninsula is a relatively unpopulated part of Australia but no doubt there were people there not exactly loving it.

Just a few days ago , Port Lincoln, a large attractive town on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, had some real scares when a bush fire was licking at its boundaries. They had some bad loss of life and property some years ago but this time our excellent Country Fire Service units had much more success.
