Gone. Pretty well ;)

The contractors dismantled the walls to save a load of imperial sized London Yellow Stock bricks - a valuable commodity.

Scaffolding is going up on the multi storey car park in the background. It's de olition will be a noisy dusty experience. :(

Somehow, I can't see that the building complex that will be erected in place of the existing buildings will last anything like several hundred years, or in fact, even be habitable, in far less than 100 years.

Depends on the materials and construction.

Longevity is costly and cheap is just that.

One thing we knew how to do (at one time, hopefully we still do) is build structures that last. Actually, it was one of our goals and we took pride in our work. It really did not occur to us to build "cheap." Granted, low costs were important, but we seemed to have a few standards and it would never occur to us to build disposable buildings.

Some of my favorite buildings here in SLC are still as rock solid as the day they were built. Fortunately, they are being used rather than torn down.
Sadly, there are economic factors at play and that often means building just good enough.

Here is the Gardo House (AKA, Amelia's Palace) a home of Brigham Young's favorite wife. The church tore it down, sadly, many moons ago. They regret it for bloody sure. I can tell you it would be as solid today as it was when it was built. Look at the LDS Temple. Solid and it will be standing centuries down the road, most likely.

Someone's fixed up this old Ford Fairlane to look like a vintage police car.

This reminds me, about ten minutes from where I live here in the UK is this place http://www.usa-cop-cars.com/cars/index.html it is, apparently, the only place in Europe that sells the State Interceptor. I pass it regularly so really I should stop and get some pictures.

It's curious how Bob's picture has been shoehorned into the quoted post from Scifan. I checked out the post and cannot see why this had occurred as the picture is placed before and outside of the quoted section.

I think it's a bug in the forum programming. There is a workaround, though, just place a period between the photo and the quote.

Whoa, just hold on a moment. Calm yourself, Bob. What? Bob does not understand. Will he be punished or banned? Did I open the portal to the Nexus of the universe? Will bob awaken from his coma in time to save Princess gloria from a lifetime of work on the plantation? Stay tuned for 'Search For Tomorrow's Qestions,' sponsored by Geritol.

(Voice Over) Geritol, "Geritol Complete Multivitamin contains every vitamin and mineral essential to good nutrition. It’s the complete multi vitamin supplement with iron."

I am skeered. I apologize if I made a mistake. sorry.

Seriously, what did I not do that I should have done did or what did I not did that I shoudda have not done but I did done?
