What's new

The "Anything Goes" thread

I should get the didgeridoo and a video camera and post the result. The finale could be my wife holding a traumatized dog in one hand and whacking me around the head with a didgeridoo with the other.

A YouTube sensation in the making.;)

Man it's chaotic here in Oklahoma. A massive tornado touched down in Moore Ok causing massive damage that's equivalent to a nuke bomb. This could break the 99 Moore tornado record!!!

Doesn't look good. 51 dead. Not much to be said at a time like this.

It's numbing news. We heard that the death toll is now 91.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the poor victims of this disaster.

I wasn't sure, so had to search: a bow tie nebula already exists:

NASA, IOTD

The picture you posted earlier looks more like a bow tie than the official bow tie nebula.

The Oklahoma Medical examiner has revised (lower - to 24) the tornado death toll.

That's a glimmer of hope in these bleak times for Moore. We are watching Sky News - 7 children are in the number who died.

Saw the story of the lady rescuing her dog.

This is an image of the storm system that generated the tornado in Oklahoma

I don't have television, just read about the tornados and hope everyone is ok. Very sad, but might have been worse, people had storm cellars.

Edit: I lived through a couple rough ones, much smaller, in Ft. Worth a few years ago and missed the ones in Oklahoma City in 2003 by a few hours when I left Texas. I passed through right after the storms did. It was amazing how people pull together when these things happen.

The emergency and support services are very well organised in Oklahoma. Everyone was given due warning of the developing tornado.
Apparently household basement shelters are very expensive to build because of the hard rock on which the city is built. Therefore there are a number of public shelters in which folk can take refuge.

Last night there was some confusion over the numbers who lost their lives. It could have been 24 or 91. Lets prefer that the lower figure is accurate.

Lets hope the communities pull together and find strength as they rebuild their lives.

I was over at the tip this morning. It's Bromley's main recycling centre.

I was saddened to see this old Joanna languishing. I hope it finds a home. If only Nathan had been there with me ;)
