The "Anything Goes" thread

Unfortunately, it appears that owners of iPads too old to install iOS 11.2.1 are out of luck. My wife's Mini, for example, is stuck at 9.2. I seriously doubt that Apple will release a fix for older devices--their idea of "up to date" is "buy a new one every year." She has no interest in a larger form factor, as the Mini fits neatly into a pocket in her purse.
Apple has released security updates for older operating systems in the past. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
 
Don't get your hopes up. First, Apple's website said the recent security update for High Sierra included a mitigation for Meltdown. Yesterday, the page was edited to include Sierra and El Capitan as well. Today, Sierra and El Capitan have been removed from the paragraph. Is you is, or is you ain't?

The release notes for the security update to El Capitan on December 6th do mention the issue even if the mention has been deleted from the website.
