What's new

The Limera1n Thread - Please keep all Limera1n news and problems here!

I terminated the iTunesHelper.exe process so that iTunes didn't pop-up, no difference, still not working.

What I'm worried about is if Geohot will be alerted of these problems with iPad and if it ever gets solved?

Their has to be a common denominator with all of us that cant get it to work properly. Do you think its possible it is something in our ipads that is different from the ones that work? When was your purchased? Or what model number ect.

It really doesnt make sense any other way. If this many people cant get it to work then it has to be more than just the jailbreak software since so many people did get it to work.

I will try again on a windows 7 laptop that i have never connected the ipad to. It doesnt have itunes installed yet. I will post the results.

But this is also a forum and i always though the purpose of a forum was for us to be able to communicate our thoughts and feelings on a particular topic or interest. I was simply expressing my feelings on repeating a process time and time again hoping for a different result. It was in no way an implication of entitlement. It was me expressing my personal feelings toward repeated efforts with the same end results.
You are absolutely 100% correct. I suppose I was just venting my frustrations because this latest jailbreak seems to be such an abomination that was nowhere near ready to be released. I can understand a few people having some minor issues, but I would have to say that it appears that more people have had failures than successes with this latest jailbeak.

I apologize.

Looks like a new update just posted.

Anyone having better luck?

"RC1 - out of beta! afc2, reliability improvements, no reboot for cydia, 2kb smaller"

Hey everyone! I've got an idea! Let's completely ignore the fact that it clearly stated that it was in beta!

Yes he was. 100%. And this is a discussion board. Of one of my favorite subjects.:D

And ~

You always man up when you know you were wrong. Only because you don't find JB as fascinating as me.:D

You are still my Hero.

I also was one of the unlucky that just couldn't get it to work. I tried it about 7 times without any success. Then I tried the tip with starting up iTunes and syncing my iPad. Then while keeping iTunes opened launching limera1n I just followed the given instructions, ignoring the iTunes notifications about having detected an iPad in recovery mode. I almost instantly got the limera1n drop icon and finally after putting the iPad back on the limera1n app was there. It had a white icon but still worked perfectly.

So if it still doesn't work for you maybe try it with the above method.
For me it worked on a Windows 7 64-bit PC with an iPad 16GB Wi-Fi with UAC set to Default and running limera1n BETA4 in Normal mode (not as administrator).

To all iPad people having trouble with limera1n!

There is no solution :) I've talked to Geohot on IRC and I explained the problem (he was already aware of) and he sent me some debug versions and such and at one point he said:

<geohot> wait, i have one idea for a code change

And guess what, that fixed it. You guys have to wait for a new version release of limera1n though, I can't send the debug version but it'll be coming soon.

- I'm still talking right now, he'd like more people to beta test this, I will keep you updated -

Edit: New version is on www.limera1n.com, thank Geohot not me.

A few things to remember...

Hey guys, reading through many people's frustrations, I wanted to give a few ideas as people push through this.
I know I had many issues when I started this process. All of my attempts ended with the limera1n program getting stuck at "release power button" but then (after the 11th time getting stuck there) I realized that maybe the device wasn't being recognized because the proper driver hadn't been installed. I reran the program in Administrator mode, put my device in DFU mode at the prompts, then checked the device manager and sure enough... with my iPad for sure in DFU mode, I simply had to have the system find the driver for "Apple device in DFU mode" which it did automatically after selecting "Update Driver Software".

Immediately finishing the installation of the proper driver the limera1n window showed "entering DFU mode" and promptly finished the whole jailbreak process in less than 20 seconds.

Hope this sheds some light for others as I was pure frustration during the evolution.

BTW... I am running Windows Vista Home Basic x32 with the latest iTunes installed.
