Take it you didn't attract the attention of airport security today. ;)

Well remembered AA! :D. These are the ones I took a couple of weeks back and attracted the bizzies. ;). I've been a bit slow uploading!

Probably best that you delayed until the heat died down. ;)

Yesterday, I took our great niece, who is with us this week, to Greenwich. I have photos to post on this thread sometime later...

However, let's write some notes while I remember things :)

Greenwich park is a huge building site. the equestrian's facilities are being dismantled. The facilities were extensive. What surprised me was the main arena is up on a platform supported by a forest of adjustable legs. The stables, warm up arenas etc are also on stilts. the whole place is terraced to the contours of the park.

Up at the viewpoint by the Observatory and Prime Meridian line, the views are unique with the Olympic clutter in the foreground. in the distance, the Orbit, Olympic Stadium and the Aquatic Centre can be seen. The Stadium should remain and be put to use. It is not a White elephant. Imagination is required to put it to a diversi of uses. music, sport, a meeting place or a tribute to the Olympic heritage all spring to mind.

Finally, the Pub by the park barges has temporary banners and signs up per Chris Evans's suggestion on Radio 2 - the banners read "Gold & Saddle". :)

Ok, here are my photos of Greenwich. Post Equestrian events and the entire Olympics and Paralympic weeks :)

I have to bring your photos to school. The aide in my room lived in England for over 15 years. I can't remember where ( I have to ask again), but she's very familiar with the market you go to, Greenwich, etc.

What will become of that venue Richard? Was it already there or was it enhanced for the games?

The park at Greenwich will revert to how it was, AA.

Plans for the future of the Olympic Park at Stratford have been announced. I believe that Taylor Woodrow has won a major contract for development works. The park will be named the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. http://noordinarypark.co.uk/

Please fell free to do so, Mollysmum. I have replied to a post by AA with photos of how the park looked about 4 years ago. The colonnade links the National Maritime Museum with the Queen's House. An identical colonnade links the QH to the East section of the museum buildings.

I wish I could afford to live in Greenwich. :)

Glad to hear there will be legacy projects. Apologies for the atrocious typos in previous post. It's obvious I need to put on another pot of coffee.

I had best share in the pot :D

Spell check is certainly working over time! I am going back to edit my first sentence. Park at reads better than parlay ;)

Will the materials from the dismantled equestrian venue be used elsewhere in Britain?

I expect a lot will be reused. Everything looks prefabricated. A lot of equipment may be given to clubs. Buildings and larger items such as platforms and barricades will have uses at sports events.
