What's new

The Official I got my iPad 2 Thread!

Haha yeah I don't have it yet, but it really does seem like an overrated problem when people trade theirs out 4 or 5 times...

I'm just hoping that it's not visible under normal conditions. I won't be watching movies or anything on it too much, more as a music studio tool. Thanks for the welcome, I'm sure I'll be on here a lot in the next few days lol

People are just being picky.

64GB 3G White iPad

Mine came in the mail today, early even with a UPS shipping delay fiasco! Thanks Apple!

However, I had scarcely turned it on when I saw a dead pixel...right in the middle of my screen. Blue or black, really stands out on red/gray (the background that was on)...I called Apple Care, they were really nice, made me a Genius appointment, went in, and they will be switching it out for what they call a "replacement part"...which they explained is basically a new iPad without any packaging...but it's strange, because they don't call it that. I don't care, as long as my problem is fixed! I've been on the iPad nonstop, I love it to death already! It's more than I even imagined! I really feel like I'm holding the future.

Same here.
I would be bothered by a dead pixel also. You pay $950 for something it should be perfect.

64GB 3G White iPad

Noob to the forum with a new Ipad 2!

Just joined an hour ago.

Got a 64 GB Ipad 2 with Wifi and 3G five days ago. Bought it the moment it went on sale in India (29th April) and was lucky to get one.

Bought the smart cover a couple of days later.

I have used an ipod many years ago and have an imac but am bristling with anticipation to enjoy the full finctionality of the ipad.

Couple of questions:
1. I have an iMac with iwork on it. Can I use the same iwork on my ipad or do I have to purchase a new app for pages, keynote and numbers? I understand the OS is different on the iMac and Ipad so it migth not work.

2. As far as silicon skins for the Ipad 2 go, which is the best and will I still be able to use the smart cover if the skin is on?

Happy ipadding everyone.

Mac OS C and iOS are different operating systems, so if you buy an app/program for on OS, will it not work on the other without paying for it again. The only place to buy apps for the iPad is the AppStore, so you will need to buy those apps again.

Just noticed a dead pixel on mine. I also have backlit bleed but it is minimal. I was going to over look the backlight bleed, but not with a dead pixel. I'll be calling to document the complaint, but will wait until close to the 1year mark to replace it so that stores have it in stock, but mainly to give apple time to remove their heads from you know where and solve these production issue. I realize that they are overwhelmed by demand, but you are really hurting your image and customer service when you sacrifice quality for quantity. The reason I went with an iPad over the others is because of apple's reputation for an awesome product. I guess I'll be testing out their noteworthiness for customer service too.

RunningIrish,

While I do appreciate that you are concerned over the backlight bleeding and now the dead pixel, is that no reason to post the exact same comment in 4 different threads. Please consider this for future comments.

You are right, 5 including this one, DUMI.

Running Irish, maybe you are more miffed about this than you are admitting, why don't you just get it replaced now?

not sure about the back light bleeding, but with dead pixels on LCD devices, manufacturers are allowed a certain number of dead pixels before the device is considered as faulty

if you want apple to replace it, I suggest you calm down and be polite

Not at all. My reason for posting to several threads is because well... They are separate threads and my comment was related to each one. While I can appreciate that some of you have the spare time to read every post on every thread, most users don't. My logic in posting in several places was to gauge how big of an issue it was and to see if anyone responded with a similar experience and what their resolution was. If I offended anyone, that was not my intent and I apologize.

Not offended, but it would be nice if you could say something different each time, if you had to repeat yourself. I just wondered if you did this because you were annoyed about the problems. Having said that, please keep posting, we are really friendly most of the time but it was just weird that you had copy and pasted on 5 different threads the exact same thing.

This thread, for instance, could have had something more positive.

That was just laziness on my part. :). And I do appreciate the feedback, both good and bad. As you can see I'm a noob and am learning about proper etiquette and protocol.
