I would add my thanks as well. We should make you our Honorary Olympics Moderator Richard! I hope you are planning to take in some of the venues during the Games so we can get your unique perspective.

Or our official IPF Olympic Reporter!

Thanks Matt. We don't have any tickets, but are planning to travel to some of the venues a week or two after Friday. Things will be more settled then, travel wise. Hopefully

The enthusiasm for the torch relay has not abated in any way. There were Great bits of TV footage from central London, with the working day brought to a standstill.

One moving scene was of the wheelchair torch bearer crossing the Millennium Bridge, opposite Tate Modern. There were no spectators on the bridge.

I work on Oxford street and got out of work early so I could miss the traffic of people on the hot tube. Temperatures were 30 degrees and a few people already fainted...a crowded tube is never good. Especially with the extra million people each day over the Olympics :/

(This post is transferred over from "Anything Goes", with apologies)

What's your choice of bell??
We Brits have all been asked to ring a bell--any bell--at exactly 8.12am (Greenwich Mean Time) this morning. That's because it will be 12 hours exactly before the start of the Olympic 2012 opening in London. Is that Exciting or what?:-) specially at this time of the morning!
So, ever the obedient child, here's what I'm ringing:

Richard, you need to stop listening to Chris Evans & get ready...go find a BELL.:-)

I'm not sure my neighbours would appreciate me ringing my bell? I had heard of this but I haven't registered on line yet. Stranding, my bell looks like yours! It's my doorbell. When I'm in my garden, I can't hear the front door so we put this brass bell on instead. Works a treat.

I rang my bell but I hope my neighbours weren't too cross. Sleepy countryside but heck it's the Olympics.

I too rang the closest bell to hand, my bicycle's catseye. I had just finished washing the car.

No other bells were rung in Bromley - within earshot, that is...

Very good! Some on the telly where jangling their car keys. And the ...(ahem) Morris dancers were also doing their thing:-)
Mine made a nice loud clanging:-) My husband did his shaking of this-a big round bell inside an origami paper box:
