Thousands of calendar invitations

I have had my iPad for a few weeeks and recently have been getting strange invitation messages when i open my calendar. Today it is telling me that i have 12888 invitations but when i click 'View' i see just the eight to accept, none of which a repeating meetings. My calendar is linked to my office exchange accont via an Office OWA webmail server. I never had this with my first iPad. Any ideas?

I am getting the same and I'm over 100,000 currently. Very annoying. I wonder what the world record is?

No permanent fix from apple yet but to temporally clear the cache reset the iPad. At least it starts from 0 again.

25,165,824 here as of today. With no outstanding invitations! Seems to double or quadruple very day or two.
