I have been a faithful Mac user since the mid 80's, is it time for me to retire my MacBook Pro, and go with an ipad with WiFi, or MiFi?

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.

For my two cents. I have a WiFi only iPad and I found a service call TruConnect that gives me a MiFi device to use 3G data when I need it without the 3G iPad. I only pay for what I use 3.9¢/megabyte after a $4.99 monthly fee. I never go above 300 megabytes on my iPad because I almost always use it at home or work so WiFi networks. Could be a good solution for you too if you want to have freedom to use your iPad anywhere without the 3G version. Plus it gives me added bonus of being able to connect my wife's iPad at the same time with the same device further making our cost cheaper. You can connect up to 5 devices with their MiFi device. This means laptop too which comes in handy for me.
