Transferring an app from pc to iPad

Ok this is driving me nuts!

It defies logic that this is not possible - I recently bought a lonely planet app which was around 500 mb so I downloaded it on on laptop.

However I cannot transfer the app to my iPad unless I sync my iPad to my laptop (and in turn lose all my apps on my iPad which are not on my laptop)

Transferring music by dragging and dropping is fairly straight forward but it's impossible to do the same with an app???

It makes no sense.

Unless of course I am missing something?

Anyone?

open the app store on the iPad, and search for the app, make sure you are using the same account as the pc

it will then pull up the app, and download from the iPad itself

Okay, I will try to explain. I'm sure there is boxes in the info section which ask how you want to synch, manually or automatically. If you tick that it will allow you to do manually. I have no access to my laptop at the moment but I hope this answers your question. I've got a feeling that if you hold the control button and right click on your device name it stops the iTunes automatically synching but you might have to find out more on iTunes help section.

lol not necessary, I haven't synced my iPad to iTunes for ages..... yes I know I should do it regularly, but I can't be bothered :p

but if I remember correctly, what you said about manually selecting also works too, but not as safe, as a slight mistake means headache sorting out

Oh! Well, sort of right. You are right though, because if you update and haven't synched all your info!!! Ooops!

I consider iTunes as a dangerous virus.
But regarding application, there is no other choice - but to sync them.
No work around. Need a backup.
Regarding Books, Music, Pictures, Movies - there IS a work around - So I never Sync them.
