Most households these days have more than one Apple device, and not all are actively used. So why not take the iDevices which you do not need on a daily basis and give them another purpose? Like a surveillance camera?

What’s more is that doing so, won’t necessitate you to give up your latest iPad or iPhone model, but an older one, maybe an iPad 2, which you were planning to try and re-sell anyway. Thanks to Manything – a new innovative startup, you can now turn your outdated iOS device into a remotely controlled intelligent camera via a simple app. Why did we say intelligent? Because the “camera†will start recording when detecting motion or sound in its near surroundings.

The captured frames are then stored on Manything’s servers. But in order to have access to your videos you will need to register for a subscription. After which you are free to watch the videos on your tablet or smartphone and online and even edit or pass them on to friends and family.

The app will save you the boredom of having to watch a long video just to discover the 2 seconds of action placed strategically towards the end. It will signal when action has occurred when using timeline view.

The Manything app curently comes with free unlimited storage for beta users.

This is Joanna from Manything, thanks for the mention! To clarify there is no cost to register or access your recordings and we're offering free unlimited storage whilst in beta. We capture sound and movement activity with all your videos but don't yet offer movement activated recording (that one is on our to do list), thanks.

we're only searchable under iPhone apps at the moment but we have lots of users using Manything on their iPad, let us know if we can help with anything, Joanna from Manything
