AppleInsider reports today that according to new figures released by the NPD Group as part of its “Apple Ecosystem Studyâ€, Apple’s iPad has done an amazing job of attracting new customers to Apple, with around 25% of U.S. buyers making the iPad their first Apple product purchase. The survey also found that 33% of U.S. homes have Apple products, or 37 million American homes. Here’s what Ben Arnold, director of industry analysis at NPD, told AppleInsider:
"iPad sales are growing much faster than any other Apple product has this soon after launch," said Ben Arnold, director of industry analysis at NPD. "In fact, one-in-five Apple owner households has one— nearly equivalent to the number that own an Apple computer. This demonstrates the appeal of both the new form factor and Apple’s app ecosystem."
According to NPD, 67% of those households that do have Apple products have an iPod, with 82% of iPod owners saying that was their first Apple product. The average Apple product-owning home has 2.5 Apple devices, the survey found.
