ITProPortal is reporting today that UK department store TJHughes is selling 64GB 3G iPads for £600, reduced from £699. It seems that the company still has plenty of stock available online, as you’ll find out if you click here. As ITProPortal points out, this is one of the biggest price cuts ever seen on an Apple product in the UK, with the 15 percent drop in price placing the iPad on a par with the most expensive iPhone 4 on the market.
As the report speculates, it seems strange that TJ Hughes has been able to market the most expensive iPad at such a low price, but presumably the retailer must have had approval from Apple in order to do so. Maybe the top-of-the-range 64GB 3G iPad has been difficult for Apple to sell in these trying financial times? It’s a possibility. It makes you wonder if cheaper iPads across the range will start to become available in similar department stores across the globe in the run up to the holiday season. We can but hope!
