Many times when I'm typing text, for instance the iPad Note app, the text underlines itself magically and turns it into a quasi hyperlink. I'm just typing along and next thing I know it's underlined. I don't want it and can't figure out how to get rid of the underline.

So what am I doing and how do li remove the underline.

That happens because the auto-correct thinks you spelled the word incorrectly. Just ignore it, it won't appear when the text is posted.

In Mail and Notes, the apps auto detects what they think are websites, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses (and maybe a couple things I'm forgetting). It underlines them in blue and makes them tappable. Tap them and they take you to the relevant app. It can not be turned off.

This only happens in the apps themselves. The actual text has not been altered in any way. If you copy&paste, or export the the text in any way it remains plain unlinked text. It also only shows when you are in view mode. When you are editing text the blue lines go away.
