Update of apps

In the Apps menu, under Updates, after I have updated the apps, they are still showing with "Open" next to each one. They use to go away after you closed Update, but I can't get them to go away now. Help please.

That is a feature of the new OS. They will disappear in a couple weeks.

I know that it is supposed to be a feature but for me the question still remains: "Is it a bug or is it a feature?"
And the answer - at least - for me is: "It is a bug!" (as in who needs yesterday's newspapers)

No Knut, it is not a bug unless you choose to define it so. As indicated by my colleague above, that is a feature, a new design if you like, where Apple has decided you may be interested in looking at your recent updates as well as the ones ready for an update. Just an added little benefit in this interesting new system revision. They won't stay there forever. I understand the old Updated advices disappear after two weeks, but I haven't kept a stop watch on that so I'm not sure;)

Hi Andrew,

thanks for the update on updates.
I know that this is supposed to be a feature, but as I already wrote I, personally, am not interested in knowing what apps I updated two weeks ago or even yesterday.
I love to see that there are updates available to improve my user experience or to add new functions to an app. And then I update. And then - in pre iOS 7 times - I used to forget about the update.
Now, I see a bunch of old updates which seem to clutter my screen.
Maybe there is a subliminal message to it, telling me that the app developers out there do a good job.

I consider it a minor annoyance, well, not really an annoyance, but "I" do not see a reason for it.
And thanks for taking the time to talk to me about that, but let's continue with some other work.

Hi Knut - now I understand your annoyance (don't like looking at an old list of updated apps - the iOS might at least give one an option to maintain this list or not); BUT, complaining here will do you no good since this is not an Apple sponsored or supported forum. If you want to leave a 'complaint' then go HERE to the Apple Feedback site and leave a message - just a suggestion - will it help? I have no idea - the claim is made that Apple reads all of these emails, so won't hurt - Dave :)

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

The reason behind the updates staying on your screens for a limited time is because Apple have now released a new feature which is that all apps can be updated automatically. Thus the need for the updates to be listed so that you are aware of what apps have been updated and for what reason.

Thanks for explaining the reasoning behind this new feature. I can see why Apple introduced it.
However, I disabled automatic updates and do not need this reminder.
Anyway, thanks again.

You're welcome! I too disabled automatic updates and have no need of it!
