Updating Skype on an IPad 2 to the latest version

Unable to update my iPad 2 on Skype to the latest version Opening the Apple Store and clicking the the icon does not activate the download - my iPad Skype version is 6.35 .... Can I do an upgrade through Safari web Browser and will this update the Skype with all my contacts not being lost

The latest version of Skype requires iOS 10 and later. You won’t be able to update the app to that version on your iPad 2. Trying to do this via browser won’t work. You only get updates through the App Store.

The iPad 2 can only be upgraded to iOS 9.3.5. To check which version is on your iPad go to Settings>General>About and scroll down to Version.
