Usb? NO CHANCE!

I use a 1TB external drive with my iPad an camera connection kit, it works great if you are jailbroken and know how to do it.

Wytey,

Thank you very much for posting these instructions. They are being copied into my 'iPad essential notes' :)

Very much appreciated.

no probs, I use the iPad as a movie player in the car to keep passengers quiet lol

my iPad isn't jb'd, but my wd 1tb ext drive is mains powered, might give that a try one day

It doesn't work unless you're jb'd. Once plugged in, you have to go into mobile terminal and type the command to mount it and have to have ifile to access the folders and files.

bah, USB drives it is then :(

at least they come in fairly decent sizes and are small :)

Alot of thumb drives won't work jb or not, as they draw too much power since apple cut the voltage provided to the cck.

maybe we should start a list of ones that work? and ones that don't?

works

corsair flash voyager

don't work

kingston data traveler
sandisk cruzer micro

Kingston DataTraveller work fine, even though they have an indicator light, which supposedly does draw too much power.

interesting, my 2 gb one doesn't work

ah, mine doesn't have a light, it has a slider, that pushes the USB connector in and out

Mine also has the slider.

It is a Kingston DataTraveler G2 with 4GB.

Perhaps your's is too small, so the iPad doesn't bother reading it :)

:p

mine is really old though, wonder if they reduced the voltage in the newer ones

a list with photos sounds like a good idea
