Hello, my friends daughter is moving to Korea for grad school and my friend wants to get her an iPad as a graduation gift from college. I am having trouble helping her figure out if she can buy an iPad 2 here in the states and have it be compatible with 3G/ wi-fi networks in Korea. Any help/advise anyone can give would be appreciated.

If you purchase the 3G iPad in the US that comes with an AT&T microSIM that will work just fine in South Korea. Some members report that it's wise to activate the iPad in the US with a prepay AT&T data plan in order to be able to initialise it in the US first as there have been several reports of members having problems initialising their iPads when overseas with a non-AT&T card. Once it's been initialised, it will accept any microSIM from a local operator in Korea.

WiFi is very widespread in Korea too, so there should be no problem there whatsoever.

Tim
