Warner Bros. Digital Distribution has today announced the launch of “App Editions†of feature films Inception and The Dark Knight for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, introducing an entirely new way to own special-edition movies. Both movies are free to download, and for that you get to watch the first five minutes for free, as well as some of the bonus content, such as three previously unreleased tracks from Hans Zimmer’s score for Inception. The entire feature film can then be unlocked as an in-app purchase, which enables downloading and unlimited streaming, as well as access to the entire array of bonus content. The two movies are available internationally as well as in the US, with The Dark Knight costing $9.99 or local currency equivalent, and Inception costing $11.99.
