Well. It quit snowing, finally. Temperatures are a bit on the low side right now, though.

Quite remarkable how eastern Ontario has dodged the worst elements of "Sandy."

Some winds gusts and light showers. That's all. West and south of here in the Toronto area, thousand of people have no power.

Just heard a news report that higher elevations in
West Virginia could receive up to 2 feet of snow.

Although I have relatives in VA and MA, I am happy to be here in WI enjoying brisk winds, but no other effects from Sandy.

Thank you for the news from Canada about the storm - weather reports here seem to think the border stopped everything.

My family is in NYS. All is well with all of them. I was worried about my brother in Albany, but he said a calm bubble surrounded Albany. :-)

I have considerable admiration for the public utility workers in Ontario. They're working under extremely hazardous conditions ( heavy rain and high wind ) to restore electric service to the many thousands of homes and businesses affected by the storm.

Earlier I reported on the conditions in Toronto.
Across all of southern Ontario 113,000 customers have been without power. At this hour that number has dropped to 37,000.

I'm guessing that Sandy is losing strength, AA.

Have crews from across Canada descended on Ontario to help restore power?

The stories remind me of the works to restore power to S England after the great storm. I think it took about a week to bring power back to near normal.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Quite the opposite Richard. Because eastern Ontario deflected the brunt of the storm, we are sending help to New York and New Jersey. A team of Hydro workers is leaving Ottawa now to
aid in repair and recovery operations.
