Well, it's when you are scraping the inside of your windscreen that is when you are annoyed. I've had to do that quite a few times recently. Brrr. Ice shavings on the dashboard and seat.

Surely this is a case for a low wattage heater to be kept in the vehicle overnight. I remember paraffin? car interior heaters used to be sold. If they were paraffin, I don't recall whether soot deposits on the upholstery were ever an issue.

Have just seen the news about Tornado damage in the States. Surely it's out of season for tornadoes - this must be exceptional.

Not entirely exceptional. Happens this time of year every year, but the magnitude of it was more severe than usual. I just barely escaped some bad weather. Tornado touched down 50 miles South, which is no distance at all for a tornado.
