You're taking about scones!Your damper is a scone. wonder about origins of both names.Love them with candied ginger and candied cranberries

that's much better Kevan. Now I'm safe to phone my niece in Ed. This weekend and she won't snap now that the winter witch is over.

just looked ahead and Easter weekend will be 15 C here! two years ago my Good Fri. Born daughter cried when it snowed on her B.day. Yey my tulips are saved!

i really envy people who live in the south for the wonderful things they can grow in their gardens, things that just wouldn't survive here,i have to put my palms in the shed over winter, the first lot i had died as i didn't take them in.

When I lived up in the mountains of Colorado we got tons of snow (which I do miss) but the hardest part was the short growing season. Over half of Canada has a longer one because of the elevation involved - the other thing greatly affected is building, with a 36" frost line footings need to be deep and the build season is very short too. I do miss the winters very much and the summers were spectacular.

Your post makes me think you are from Cornwall, Leelai. Cream teas of scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam spring to mind. This is a nice hijack! :)

At least the attempts at snowing have given up, but the dusting of snow remains, looking rather frozen under calm grey skies.
