Yes I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during the negotiations with the Queen....but what a surprise! Just loved it and her!

I must have missed the Aussie press criticizing, I'm getting mighty unhappy with the way journalists are sensationalizing everything, it's just plain grubby reporting!
The athletes work damn hard and do deserve to enjoy their moments!

And I'm loving your city Gab! We've been getting some wonderful coverage of London....I must go there one day!!!

I'll be here waiting!

I agree, some elements of the press seem to want to find the worst in everything rather than enjoy the events for what they are.

Hi everybody---just woke up!

I am probably late for the discussions...but we absolutely loved, loved the opening ceremony! From the very start we were glued to the Tv!! So many things I could comment about, but the funniest was the Queen and James Bond parachuting out of the helicopter! That was hilarious and the Corgie dogs...they played really well also! Loved the Chariots of Fire with Mr. Bean too, quite hilarious with his one note thumping!!

I think Paul McCartney got a bit choked up at the beginning of his song! Loved seeing Mohamed Ali (sp?) there...I was wondering if he would take part...and the design and concept of the torch being lit!!

After watching the ceremony last night and seeing the footage of London....it is def a place I want to visit!! Great, great ceremony London!! :)

I didn't want to give anything away for you Ski......wasn't it just magic happening!

For the Queen to have participated was a huge event!! And had to have those corgis too!

I hope they put the torch somewhere when it's all over.. It's a piece of art in itself.

I'll raise a virtual glass with you, Gabe. Even though it's 6:30 am here, and mine will contain coffee.

I know...those Corgie dogs were absolutely adorable!! I tried to avoid the Olympic threads here yesterday afternoon, because I wanted to see it that night! Though of course our local radio stations spoke about Paul McCartney!

All in all--it was superb! Well done and fine job to all the Folks in Great Britain!!

Drinks are on me! It's Pimm's O'Clock!

The Archangel

You will have to show me how to mix one up when I buy my bottle!! :)

The Corgies were the Queens own dogs.

Pimm's is easy, fill a pitcher with Pimm's and lemonade and then stuff it with the contents of your fruit and veg patch!

When the back of the Queen was first seen, we thought for a minute it could have been a double; the hair wasn't styled as we expected. A little twist of humour? ;)

Yes...even the Queen's dogs were so nicely groomed as well!! I think I caught them smiling at the camera at one point! :)

Ok...when I make my batch...I will post a pic--and boy do we have the home grown veggies coming in!! :)
