Hello and thanks,
Actually the time was spent shopping for the plants, the planting took me and Angie, my wife, less than an hour!
I've used 12 heather plants so far, and it looks like I'll need another 100 to encircle the lawn ( 12 plants cost £20 )
It'll be finished way after the Olympics lol
I like the decorative stone in your yard.
I've tried that at my place but the ground is so unstable the stones get washed away or settle in the dirt and muck.
Will try landscaping bark this year. But as you point out, cost means it's always a work in progress.

Actually those slabs were in front of the patio doors where I now have a small deck.
I asked my two lads to lay them there ready to do something with it, as you see there is the cast iron base for the parasol.
I was thinking of having either a chimineare ( a pot bellied patio wood burner with a chimney ), or a water feature.
Again I'm saving for our trip so things get done " soon" lol
Missing my husband, who is out of town inspecting work being done at our second home. I couldn't get away. Not only do I miss him, I miss normal meals when he's not here to cook, lol. Popcorn and beer for dinner tonight!
There is a gardening thread on here dennykrane. If you are interested?
I'm sat in the sun on my patio in Somerset thinking about some gardening, if anyone's interested? Great iPad time. Having a drink and relaxing.
