What's new

What do you hear in your environment right now?

Hey, Johanna - that's MY line [emoji39][emoji39][emoji172][emoji172][emoji39][emoji172] Just kidding! Nice to hear you all chirping away. Last night we had a thunderstorm SO LOUD that I had two dogs on top of me who was laying on the bed. I was trying to get them off because it was hard to breathe, each dog over 100 lbs, but they were trembling so hard from fear I couldn't budge them! Every time the thunder smashed harder and they dug in deeper - no chance of getting out from under them!! [emoji39][emoji252][emoji252][emoji39][emoji252][emoji252][emoji39][emoji252][emoji252]

:) Peace begins with a smile :)

Sorry, Diane, I didn't know you're the owner of that line. ;)

Sorry, that just was natural to me because we have a show here called " it's your line! " and another one called " What's your line?"
Forgot for a moment you don't see what I do! And vice versa!

Oh, oh Glorious Days of Spring! The frogs have been singing for about a month. On Friday I went to a near neighbor's house for dinner and asked if she had heard the songbird this year. She hadn't and I thought maybe it wasn't going to serenade us from first light to sundown. I just woke up to the serenade of the songbird! OH HAPPY DAYSIDE!!!

The song bird ( who has serenaded me since dawn ) and soon the frogs will be making their lovely sounds. I got stuck there for a moment. I forgot what frogs do. I keep finding sinkholes in my brain - no warning. Luckily they fill themselves back up! Oh, SEE! Frogs croak! But that's not the word that describes their lovely mating calls. Unfortunately my cat has discovered their pond. When it gets silent I think my cat is eating a la français!

Well, for the last week or so, I've been going through my non-classical music collection (a rarity these days except for jazz - mostly into classical music listening) - 'culling' (and/or adding) to my female & male 'pop' singers (nearly all predate the '80s & '90s) sub-collection - SO, pertinent to this thread, I'm now listening to Connee Boswell - quoted below the beginning of her Wiki article - I have the single CD below w/ recordings from the 1930s-40s, several accompanied by Bing Crosby (she was a frequent guest on his radio shows). Dave :)

P.S. I've not posted in the listening thread on this forum because as a member of the GMG Classical Music Forum, my many listening & movie (in their Diner) experiences are posted there.

Constance Foore "Connee" Boswell (December 3, 1907, Kansas City, Missouri – October 11, 1976, New York City, New York) was an American female vocalist born in Kansas City but raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. With her sisters, Marthaand Helvetia "Vet" Boswell, she performed in the 1930s as The Boswell Sisters. They became a highly influential singing group during this period via recordings and radio.

Connee herself is widely considered one of the greatest jazz female vocalists and was a major influence on Ella Fitzgeraldwho said, "My mother brought home one of her records, and I fell in love with it....I tried so hard to sound just like her."
