I am new to apple products and have iPad 2. I am getting a message saying memory running low or something but I have 7gb still. What memory is it on about and how can I free some?

This message I probably about the RAM that the iPad uses when running apps as oppose to the 16 gig or 32 gig or 64 gig used to store apps and data. I sometimes experience the when running google earth.

You can free up ram by closing apps completely that you are not using ATM. All apps which you have opened still retain some ram until they are closed.
From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press an app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, now close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly.

Also have a look at what Location services you are running and also clearing your History and Cookies in Safari will also clear more ram. Hope this helps you.

My apologies for not welcoming you!

I too have experienced the "low memory" notice and didn't know what to do. I've written down your recommendations and will try it out, thanks.
