What's new

What music are you listening to right now!?!?

Buddhist chants. They're probably chanting something spiritual, but since I don't know what they're saying, they actually could be Buddhist grocery lists, lol.

Heh. I have a Melodiya LP of sticheras, Russian Orthodox chants, written by Ivan the Terrible, the late-16th-century tsar. They're performed by a male quartet, all basses IIRC, and naturally they're in an old Russian dialect.

Or maybe they're grocery lists... :)

Right now, my turntable is transporting me back to 1974, where the Czech Philharmonic is playing the Dvorak Slavonic Dances. It may be the definitive performance of this delightful music.

There was something about preparing a vinyl disc for play.

Presently listening to Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road by Elton John. I once owned that on vinyl - YELLOW vinyl.

I'm not sure I should admit to this after my PINK BARBIE comments but I own a large pink vinyl record with love songs on it. My all time favourite songs are on it. (I'm now running away in shame.)

I think you'll be forgiven. ;-) It was the songs you bought, not the colour. :-)

Thank you Johanna.

To be or not to be
I have all my singles from the late eighties and nineties. We occasionally play them on our pioneer music centre record player. It cost us a massive £500 and still works. It is 24 years old. Wow.

I would be surprised if any of you know this one. Mahavishnu Orchestra: Apocalypse.

Wasn't that John Mcloghlin (sp -1) and Jan Hammer? I had an old album on vinyl with John and Carlos Santana - simply amazing, but probably out of print for years

John McLaughlin with the London Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas. No Jan Hammer, but Ponty is there.
