What's new

What music are you listening to right now!?!?

Ah, I knew you'd like the Leibowitz, Johanna. But the best Sixth is still Bruno Walter conducting the Columbia Symphony:

Listen to the pace of the first movement...it's perfect, neither too fast nor too slow. Nothing is too heavy nor too light; it's the Goldilocks of Sixes. An excellent recording, too, one of Columbia's best from the Golden Age of stereo.

Your link seems to be from the iMusic app. I had problems with that one before, and I couldn't listen to the music in your link. But I've found it, it's already saved to my library so that I can listen to it in the morning. Thank you for the advice.

Edit: I'm listening right now. It's perfect, you're right.

Since everyone!s spinning the classics tonight it only seems proper to dust off 'Dr. Baltar's Theme'
Season 3, Battlestar Galactica.

The title cut is 'Battlestar Sonatica' as composed and played by Bear McCreary. Enjoy.

Classics? Oh, most assuredly...Classical Gas, Mason Williams with Mannheim Steamroller, on LP.

I enjoyed both. Thank you for posting!

This is from the soundtrack of Star Trek - First Contact, it's the main theme. Most of all I enjoy the melody performed by the horns.

'Jordan' by Rival Sons.

Rival Sons have been together for about 5 years. Fronted by 'Jay Buchanan'. His vocals can claw at your heart and soul so be warned. California based, the group is presently touring in the U.S. after having played extensively in Europe earlier this year. First heard them on 'Sirius Satellite Radio'. Most recently the track 'Jordan' from the album 'Head Down' was featured in an episode of 'Sons of Anarchy' season 5.

Here's an acoustic version of 'Jordan' that tears down Buchanan's voice to something almost primal.

Enjoy.

Here's a different, unusual kind of brass music from an Austrian group. They call themselves "Da Blechhaufn" (the heap of brass).

Praise You

I bet you've never heard Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" this way:
