Number one would be a Bluetooth configuration that allows many more Bluetooth devices to connect instead of only iPhones and one or two other devices. Current restrictions on Bluetooth belong to dinosaur age and if I had known about it prior to purchase, I probably would have opted for a Samsung pad I would also like to see easier manipulation of photos and documents and if possible not use iTunes at all.

Apple should move something to make me trust they will give us more consideration in the near future. Just to give an example to explain my point, the gestures were disabled in iOS5 for iPads of first generation artificially, to force us to upgrade. I think practicing such commercial approach on an expensive device that is not yet 2 years old is treating very bad who is making you gain money. I am seriously considering the possibility to go versus the android market for the next buy even if I still consider Apple the best technical choice, for the moment. They will loose a lot of customers if they treat us like that. There is also Jailbreaking but I like straight, honest things ...

I darnt even think about it,since june i have bought macbook pro,ipad2 and iphone 4s not to mention the samsung galaxy s i bought in march,no i will wait for 4 or 5.........probably.

Knowing what I know now, there is no ways I would ever consider buying an Apple product again! I have never come across such restrictive practices mainly to the detriment of customers. I am not denying that the iPad is a great piece of equipment and probably far superior to others, but when you cannot use Bluetooth unless you have an iPhone or even load simple programs like Flash for example then it is restrictive. The other bugbear is having to use iTunes all the time to manipulate photos. My android phone has better manipulation of photos than my iPad! Any one want to buy a second hand hardly used iPad 2?

I'm confused...what exactly do you mean by "you cannot use Bluetooth unless you have an iPhone"?

I cannot Bluetooth from either of Nokia phones to the iPad. I cannot Bluetooth from the iPad to my Epson printer. I cannot Bluetooth from my iPad to my Samsung laptop and vice versa. However if I have a iPhone I can use Bluetooth to my iPad and vice versa. Restrictive practices unless you know something I don't in which case I amall ears and wil apologise. Thanks.

its like this, everyone says the same thing when people are complaining about apple products,do your homework before buying, the restrictions are there for a reason.......i will say this tho,i have had trouble with bluetooth.

Okay, but what is it you want to do exactly?

i tried to bluetooth from an old sony ericcson phone to my 4s and it said "not supported" i asked apple why i can't bt between my apple devices i.e ipad2 and mbp and they said its b,cos you can transfer data by the other methods,i would like to know then what it will work with.

In the main, Bluetooth (BT) photos from a newish Nokia X6 android phone to the iPad and then print them off. Research never showed this up as a problem and when we asked the question in the shop prior to purchase we were told that yes you can use BT for photos. They failed to mention that only if you have a iPhone. I bought the iPad for the wife who is totally new to computing to use and she is not very pleased that she cannot use BT to send photos from her phone to the iPad. Another issue is editing photos. You edit them on the iPad but when transferring them back to the PC they lose all the edits. As we cannot print from the iPad i don't know if the edit remains in place on printing.

Ah got it. Sounds like you should go one way or the other then. Mixing OS's of any sort is going to be problematic. You could just as easily say that the Android phone is the problem because it doesn't work with the iPad.

If you were to have an iPhone and an iPad 2 using iOS 5 you could take a picture on either device and have the photo on the other device in seconds via Photo Stream. I took a picture of our dogs with my iPhone earlier today. Within 10 seconds it was on my iPad as well as my iMac computer. No Bluetooth device that I know of can do that.

FWIW I had a Motorola Android phone for a time but after a few months switched to an iPhone 4. The Android Apps were difficult to buy and often buggy, trying to get music and photos on it from my computer was a pain...I just spent way too much time working on it instead of enjoying it. The difference in how well the iPhone, the apps, syncing everything, etc. works compared to the Android is night and day. Not to mention how seamless using the iPhone is with my computer. I would never ever consider going back. I've also used a couple Android tablets and they seemed so heavy and crude compared to my iPad.

Each to their own of course and I'm sure you'll find something that works for you. However mixing Apples and oranges (pun intended) is probably never going to work well.

Forgot to mention that I print from my iPad (using PrintBureau) without any problems. The photo editing thing I'm not familiar with...I edit everything on my computer.

My two pence. :)

I did my homework. The multigestures were there when I bought the device and are not there any more. Apple, decided to disable them in iOS5 for iPads of first generation just to force people to upgrade...

Multi gesture on ipad1 is apparently coming back soon with iOS 5.0.1 announced to developers.

Sent from my iPad2 3G 32 gig (not JB'ed) / using iPF

By the same token the Nokia has a Symbian OS which is different to the Android OS and still more different to the Windows platform, but they can all interact with one another using Bluetooth. The Nokia can also interact with my Epson printer as can my PC. My Nokia interacts with the built in Bluetooth in my Ford. The Apple iPad can do none of these with its Bluetooth as Apple have restricted the Bluetooth on the iPad to only their products. This is uncompetitive and bad for customers.
