Whatsap on iPhones

I'm being strongly persuaded to get whatsap on iPhone to send photos but am hesitating re not knowing the idea of all
my contacts being accessed. How secure is this app? Anyone had any issues? I have iPhone 5s and would prefer to login
via 1Password too if that's possible

Whatsapp is owned by Facebook, which sums up exactly what your getting yourself into !

Quite a few people disowned and deleted Whatsapp upon facebooks aquisition of it, and many more continue to distance themselves from Facebook

Apart from someone who already knows your cell number can see your profile picture I don't see any security problems with this. You can block specific contacts but u can't stop them from sending an SMS instead.
