Wow...mine is moviNg fast. Started the day in Middletown, Pa, went to Newark, NJ and is now sitting in Linwood, Pa. It's getting closer!

Mine did the same but seems insane to go all the way up to North Jersey and then back down to PA again. LOL

Considering they move packages in under 14 hours every single day, I am not sure how you can even remotely be worried yet.

Mostly because I live in a rural part of NY and they only take one ups truck out this way a day. So if its not in Binghamton/Vestal/Conklin sometime early tomorrow morning odds are I wont get it.

Seems Apple has a distribution Center in Middletown, PA and Fedex has an Express hub in Newark, NJ & World Service hub in Linwood, PA. Could be they sorted units for an entire region onto pallets for distribution to the central hub in NJ where they fan out to the various service hubs - probably all done by air. The service hubs are sorting to individual trucks for actual delivery to the customer. It could be for this fragile cargo, trucking of large quantities for > x hours gets shipped by air instead of by truck, through to the final step where it goes on a truck or van. This is all speculation but it seems insane that Middletown is like 60 miles from here and Newark is 80 miles from here (but it does help to pad the time to deliver right on the date expected). LOL

CONGRATS!!! I have to wait at least 18 more hours

So I'm taking the day off today and tomorrow (it's been planned long before the release information) and every Friday I have lunch with the boys. Lunch starts at 11:30am and goes until 1:00pm. Not knowing if the iPad was coming at 9:00am, during lunch, before 3:00 or somewhere in between I had the package held at a local FedEx location several blocks from my house.

After I entered the information online I called the 800 number to make sure they have it. The guy asked me for my number so the local facility could call me tomorrow to let me know when it was there.

5 minutes later, I got a call from FedEx and the lady said it's usually available after 9:30 the day of scheduled delivery. But she cautioned me that tomorrow is a "big day" for FedEx and that I should be patient and give it until 11:00am or so. So his is how the rest of the conversation went...

Me: thank you so much for the information, that's great news.
FedEx lady: my pleasure sir, enjoy your new iPad.
Me: <laugh> thank you, I will for sure.
