ZaggFolio for iPad 3

Sorry .. One last thing. I own a PR company and several of my clients had websites for iPad 3 accessories. Zagg had these pages up before the release and it was determined that many of the same items fit both devices. My clients figured that out and one of them still has not changed the website yet due to cost and time but the product works for both.

Received mine 1 day before my pad ...said it was for the 2 so I called...they assured me it was for the 3...was really a tight fit but figured that was a good thing...however I didn't realize that the smart unlock feature was supposed to be included ...it had never worked...so called today and rep said it was a bad magnet and they are shipping a warranty replacement...me thinks it was actually for the 2 after all lol...ohhh well at least they didn't give me a hassle to replace it:-)

For the record...I ordered zaggfolio for.iPad 3rd generation...they sent iPad 2 with a sticker on it...inside of the zagg has a "2" in it...they are slapping stickers on old ones...maybe not.all of them...but based off what I got and the rest of the complaints all over the net...a lot of people experiencing the same thing.

Not to mention...mine came in 2 separate packages...one package was the solo zagg keyboard and the other was a zaggfolio WITHOUT the keyboard but works with the solo keyboard.

Thanks for the replies but I still don't understand. The shipping dates for Zagg products are being updated daily on the website. Take the red case/silver keyboard combination. iPad 2 ships now, new iPad out of stock. If the cases are compatible for both devices why is one in stock and one not. If the cases are not compatible why put a sticker on the box saying they are?

I've bought from Zagg twice before and have not had problems, but this seems to be a mess.

I'm getting a warrnty replacement...the rep says my shipment will be delayed a week or so...guess they are replenishing their stock with the correct one. She, also, gave me the HD screen protector at a discount, no tax and free shipping...:-)

Zaggfolio from Best Buy

I've been following this thread for a week. This has been a confusing situation for Zagg customers.

I saw the Zaggfolio for iPad 3 advertised on Best Buy's web page, so I placed an order for it. That was before I began reading this thread. Now, I have an unopened Zaggfolio because I'm not sure it will work with my iPad 3. The package doesn't say anything about working with the new tablet. It says iPad 2 on the front.

Now, I did contact Zagg about this. I questioned why they allow a vendor to advertise old products as compatible with new iPads. Here's their reply:

"I'm sorry to hear about any confusion with your order for the ZAGGfolio. Though the packaging says 'iPad 2' on it, I assure you that the ZAGGfolio you have received is the correct one for your new iPad. We will be sending out the new iPad products in iPad 2 packaging temporarily until we have 'new iPad' packaging to send out. If you are having trouble with your ZAGGfolio and it does not fit your new iPad, please indicate so and we can assist you in receiving another."

In reply to that, I asked if I open it to try it out and it does not fit, can I get a refund. I have not heard anything since then.

Anyway, I ordered what is supposed to be the actual folio from Zagg, but in blue because the carbon fiber is not yet ready. It will arrive tomorrow.

In the end, my question is, will the carbon fiber Zaggfolio I have from Best Buy work with the new iPad if I make the modifications which I read about in this thread? I would rather have the carbon fiber than the blue case. If the answer is yes, then I will send back the blue one to Zagg.

Sounds like the Zagg folks are saying that will take care of things if you have problems. However, if you really want the carbon fiber, I would wait on that.

I'm interested in the carbon fiber case myself.

Yes you can peel back the felt sheet with your fingernail slowly and simply peel out the padding underneath it...then re-stick the felt back down. The adhesive already there will stick fine. Its actually very easy it took a couple minutes. The iPad will fit fine after that and will pull out a lot easier. I have the blue one and the material feels a lot better than he regular black ones IMO...it has a "soft" padding feel on top of hard plastic.

The Zagg folio I got from Best Buy yesterday has the same sticker implying its works for both models. The sticker says verbatim: "Compatible with iPad 2 and iPad (3rd gen.)" Mine fits snug on my 3rd gen iPad. Unfortunately, some are not as lucky as I am. You will have to see in your individual cases.

I do have one question for those who have used the keyboard folio with the iPad 2. Does the slot in the keyboard scratch the iPad in any way? I can't tell if it is polish aluminum or plastic. I am tempted to find some felt or very thin rubber to put in the slot. Any feedback on this?

That's the way they have always done it, in two packages, when coming from a direct sale from ZAGG. This allows for custom combinations for Folio and Keyboard style. Unlike all-in-one packaging sold in some retailers that are pre-designed.

The Keyboard is aluminum colored plastic. I've wondered about the slot scratching and it never did on the iPad 2 that I had. I was alway careful about placing it in there. So being that Aluminum has a much higher hardness rating than plastic it would be the Keybaord that would be subject to getting scratched most likely. There is a rubber bumper on the front of the slot to protect the glass.

Still, I may install a couple of felt pads in the slot to protect it as a precaution, thus my 3rd improvement/Tweak to the ZAGGfolio. Gee they ought to hire me. ;)

If I do that procedure to remove the padding, should I leave any amount just to make sure the tablet doesn't slip out?
