WWDC has proved to be a fruitful event, with many new features and tools announced, the start of the show being iOS 8, obviously. At the conference, Apple highlighted some of the main features, such as updates to Siri, Family Sharing, Home Kit and some more, but there are many other smaller improvements that actually have a big importance for the iOS users. Let’s have a look at 8 of the most interesting ones:

Wi-Fi calling

Apple has supported making FaceTime audio and video calls over Wi-Fi networks for some time now, but it looks like iOS 8 will bring the ability to make standard calls over Wi-Fi as well. Carriers such as T-Mobile have offered this service on other smartphones for years, but it’s been excluded from the iPhone — until now. In fact, T-Mobile has already confirmed that it will support Wi-Fi calling in iOS 8, though It’s likely that this feature will be dependent on carriers, not available universally.

...and that doesn't strike you as pointless? I'm not seeing why the post above couldn't contain the information, or put it only one click away. I read about the features on another site rather than go thru this rigamarole.
