When that happens to me I leave the launch screen and game and then when I come back I can add points again. I don't know why the game does that.

Taxi duties that explains the sleep deprivation .. Kids keep you awake when young then as soon as they are adults they repeat the pattern ,mine spend they lives on technology , but it might be catching
