Regarding today's quest, I would suggest that the most valuable aspect is the bonus of the barrel of oil (50 units) that you get as well as a crystal ball, every time that you complete the 'Abnormal Activity' quest. I'm just going to fly the pants off the planes to the three Halloween destinations so as to maximise the completion of the abnormal activity aspect and hence get multiple free barrels of oil. It will obviously be necessary to avoid completing the main quest until closer to the two week window as the Halloween flights will probably become unavailable once the main quest is completed.
Just my thoughts, though you would expect a new decent prize upon completion of the overall task...wouldn't you? It is quite difficult to finish even if you are like me and starting from the advantageous position of having some aspects already complete from last year.

Can anyone plz send me a leyden jar. The quest seems impossible to complete for a player like me, with only 1 Halloween shop and low drops rates, with limited black wraiths. However, seeing that this is a repetition, I am going to complete all that I can, in case it comes along again next year. I am going to use the crystal balls at the end if I think I can do it, or else preserve it for next similar quest. I am targeting the subquests, for which I need 1 LEYDEN JAR.

I can't recall them having any use. It may simply be as you suggest that it's one of the sub-quests that forces interaction with neighbours and adds a component of time waiting/wasting. It certainly doesn't appear as a collectible item.
Maybe someone knows better.

They also drop from the Halloween flights. It doesn't have to be gifted by a neighbour.
And you're going to need 5 more after that

Can anyone who can gift aerosol send me some? This is the long pole in this challenge, getting 60 aerosol cans to get rid of the black wraiths in your city. I did it last year, but don't recall spending greenies. This year they want 40 greenies for only 5 aerosol cans and 20 lanterns (what a rip off!).

Not with Abs but with other neighbours whom I know are playing because I can see they just visited my city. I've tried calling them back but that doesn't seem to do anything - but that may be because my game is blocked.
