KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has some surprising thoughts today about the launch of the forthcoming iPad Air 2, saying that he thinks that Apple will be announcing the new tablet at its September 9 event next week at the Flint Center in Cupertino, California. Up until today this event was generally considered to be focusing entirely on the iPhone and iWatch.
Writing in a research note, Kuo said that the iPad mini will only have a minor update, possibly meaning just the addition of a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, but the iPad Air 2 will have a more significant spec update, including a new anti-reflective screen coating, a full-lamination touch panel, a new gold-coloured shell option, and the A8 processor.
Some of these we have heard before, many times over, but I don’t recall hearing that there would be a new gold-coloured option, similar to that of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. That could look really smart!
